Do you follow the rules at school or work? Why or why not?

It depends. Some rules are in place because in order for a large group of people with different temperaments and agendas to get along, certain rules of behavior are established to prevent potential conflict. However, other rules are established, perhaps because of the cowardice of the leadership. For example if one person is caught using the phone to cheat or is texting all day long, rather than addressing the issue with that person, a blanket rule of no cell phone usage is established. In that case, I would break the rule, because as a responsible adult, I can police my own cell phone usage and use it appropriately without needing a rule in place in order to ensure I'm doing the right thing or being productive. So I follow the rules as far as they make sense to, and as far as I need to to maintain the order of the group. I choose whether I follow the rules situationally, because ultimately, I'm in control of how much I want to be a part of the group dynamic, and rules are arbitrary to the particular group the rules are established for.
